 Eligibility Requirements

• For the 2008 scholarship program, new applicants (who have never previously received an award) must be enrolled in the Registered Nursing field at an accredited college, university or vocational-technical school with 50% of their degree completed by the fall of 2008. Applicants must be working on studies in the Registered Nursing field for the first time and planning to continue in school for the entire 2008-09 academic year without interruption (barring illness, emergency or military service).
  
• Applicants who are current or previous recipients of the HCA Promise Fund award are not limited to the Registered Nursing major. They may be enrolled in Registered Nursing or one of the fields/occupations listed:  Radiological technologists and technicians, Pharmacists (final two years leading to PharmD), Respiratory therapists, Physical therapists (final two years leading to Master's degree required for licensure), Occupational therapists, Laboratory technologists, Medical records and health technicians (medical billers and coders)
  
• Applicants must be dependent children of full-time HCA-affiliated employees with at least one year’s continuous service as of Jan. 1, 2008, and remaining active employees at the time awards are announced. (Dependent children must be age 25 or younger, unmarried, natural or legally adopted children or stepchildren primarily supported by the employee. Children older than 25 years who are seeking a career transition into healthcare may also apply.) Children of officers of HCA and children of CEOs of HCA-affiliated facilities are not eligible to participate in the program.
